Scenes from the Bone Shop

Essays from Nine Mile Magazine on Dylan Thomas, Ezra Pound, W.B. Yeats, Larry Leavis, Caroline Forché, Hart Crane, and others.

From the introduction:

There’s a sense in which all history—official as well as personal history—is one version of many other possible histories: because this familiar history of ours is not that unknown one, our iPhones and flags and victorious engagement in two world wars and a cold war are not a world in which these do not exist or never happened, because this woman we married is not that one we never met, and the children we have are not ones we never had. Because all those other histories that could have happened never did, we live happily or—covering possibilities— perhaps sadly or obtusely in this history that is ours.
